Basics
As with any operating system, there are some things you may not be familiar with. In this section we will show you how to complete your daily activities, such as simply listening to music and browsing the internet, as well as other useful and important information that you are not aware of.
Desktop
Spez Linux's desktop consists of two very simple and easy-to-learn elements called Top Panel and Dock. You can customize the desktop and lock screen wallpaper: Settings App → Background.
Top Panel
You can see the top panel at the top of the screen. On the left is the Applications menu, in the middle is the date and time, and on the right are indicators.

Applications
The left part of the top panel is the Applications section. Clicking applications shows a launcher that shows all your installed applications. You can look at more than one application page by scrolling or by using the page numbers at the bottom. You can also use the top modifier to switch between Grid View and category view.

You can search for applications by name or by the keyword associated with them and the actions they perform. You can also search the system settings panes. Some actions you'll find in search:
Indicators:
On the right side of the top panel are icons called indicators. These show you the current status of the session, for example your network connections, battery power, time, messaging and e-m@il, etc. Clicking on an indicator shows more information and related actions.
Dock
The bottom of the screen is the dock. It includes all the apps that are currently open, as well as your favorite apps.

The dock's content is easily customizable. To add an application to the dock, you can drop it in the "apps" pane on the top panel, or you can right-click the open application icon and select Add to Favorites. To remove an application from the dock, right-click the icon and select Remove from favorites. You can drag and drop apps from the dock wherever you want. You can customize the dock settings by clicking on the wheel icon next to Tweaks → Extensions → Dash to dock. App windows
Applications have their own windows that can be closed, enlarged or moved.
When you open an application, the window appears on the desktop. Each application typically has three areas: window buttons, toolbar, and application content. Header
Many apps have a title bar at the top. This field contains actions or navigation elements that are common to the application, as well as window buttons.
You can move an app's window around the desktop by dragging anywhere on the Header Bar, including on buttons. A app window from older Spez Linux releases.
Window Buttons
An application's window buttons are located in the upper-left corner of the application window. With the order of buttons, the red one is close, the yellow one is minimize, the green one is switch to full screen.
Multitasking
Spez Linux supports multi-running windows and workspaces.
App windows
Applications are open in application windows. It can overlap and be moved on the desktop. You can switch between windows in several ways:
To switch between Windows, [Alt ] + [ Tab ]'keys, press. Press [ ⌘ ] + [ W] to preview the open windows. you can customize these shortcuts by following System Settings → Keyboard → Shortcuts → Windows. Workspaces
By default, all application windows open in a single workspace. However, you can use multiple workspaces to organize your workflow:

The Panel, dock and workspaces appear only on the first screen. The representation of other connected screens workspaces is not supported. To manage and rearrange screens, you must scroll to System Settings → screens. Your home screen is filled-marked with an asterisk (★) and other display settings can be changed from the cog(Settings icon).

System Settings
System Settings helps you change screen resolution, keyboard, mouse, etc. settings.
Search You can quickly find the settings you're looking for by typing keywords in the search bar at the top of the window. The System Settings window lists downwards what matches your search for content. App Settings Note that system settings only deals with general preferences for the basic operating system. Some apps have their own preferences, but you won't find them here. Instead, look within the application in question. |
